The Hiring Process @ Harvard

At Harvard, there are actually multiple hiring processes for different segments of our workforce.

In nearly all cases, Harvardís hiring process is decentralized, with qualified candidates screened and referred to an academic officer or manager with hiring authority. If you have applied for a staff position, donít be discouraged if you donít get the response or position you want right away. As a large, ever-changing organization, new opportunities become available regularly.

Be sure to keep your information in our recruitment management system, ASPIRE, up-to-date and to check the jobs listings frequently for opportunities you believe best fit your skills and goals.

Local human resources (HR) offices typically coordinate the hiring process for staff positions (including professional, support staff, service, and trades) working in concert with hiring managers. All of these jobs can be found in ASPIRE.

Hiring for faculty positions and post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard is typically done by academic deans and department chairmen, and administered by offices for academic or faculty affairs at each school.
