About the speaker:
Kiku Adatto is a noted author, scholar and commentator on American society and culture. Currently a scholar in residence at Harvard’s Humanities Center and a lecturer on social studies, she has been director of Children’s Studies at Harvard, a research fellow and faculty member at the Harvard Kennedy School, and a member of the faculty of Harvard’s Department of Sociology.
CCW is pleased to kick off the 2008-2009 season with a talk by Dr. Adatto, author of the new book, Picture Perfect: Life in the Age of the Photo Op, published by Princeton University Press.
Speaking the day after the presidential election, Dr. Adatto will focus on the results in the context of her research. Some of the topics will include: the origin of “gotcha politics”; photo ops; digital deception; 24/7 news: is more really less?; citizen journalism; human rights and social fallout.
